AMC Theaters plans to distribute additional concert films after its success with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.

Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are two of the biggest names in music today, but they also impact the film industry. On April 24, Variety announced that AMC Theaters plans to distribute more concert films after their successful releases with the beloved artists.

AMC’s Strategy for Future Concert Film Distribution

Fandango executive Stephanie Terifay will soon join AMC in the newly created position of VP of Distribution, Variety reports. The role will require Terifay to “engage in the music industry to develop future projects” and “tailor distribution strategies and marketing plans to maximize fan engagement.” Terifay was at the helm of the integrated marketing team in her previous role and collaborated with Hollywood studios and brand partners to maximize consumer awareness and ticket sales.

Kevin Arnold, who has worked for AMC for 11 years, will be promoted to VP of programming promotions and partnerships, overseeing promotional strategies aimed at driving moviegoer engagement and increasing ticket sales.

In a statement, AMC’s chief content officer Elizabeth Frank stated, “The remarkable success of AMC Theatres Distribution last fall opened an exciting new business for AMC, and we are thrilled to have Stephanie Terifay’s expertise and enthusiasm build upon the brilliant leadership of Nikkole Denson-Randolph.”

Frank continued, “Through the addition of Stephanie and the much-deserved elevation of Kevin Arnold, AMC Theatres Distribution is well positioned to continue to deliver exciting and compelling content to moviegoers at AMC and across the industry domestically and internationally.”

Bringing Music Icons to the Silver Screen

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour premiered at The Grove in Los Angeles, California on October 11, 2023, and nationwide on October 13. Filmed throughout three performances at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California in August, the film became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, accumulating $261.7 million globally.

Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé premiered at The Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles, California on November 25, 2023, and nationwide on December 1, World Aids Day. John Edward Rittenhouse, Beyoncé’s uncle, introduced the performer to Black dance music and ball culture, which heavily influenced Renaissance sonically. The film grossed $44 million globally and was met with critical acclaim.

With their films coming out in such close proximity, Swift and Beyoncé showed support by attending each other’s premieres. Swift took to Instagram, writing, “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without Beyoncé’s influence. The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.”

You can watch The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on Disney+, complete with songs excluded from the theatrical release. While Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is not available for streaming yet, you can watch the trailer for the film below and stream the album on all streaming services.
