Cher Explains Her Dating Preference in Latest Interview
While on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cher explained her brief history with Elvis Presley and why she dates younger men.
On May 1, Cher appeared on Jennifer Hudson’s Emmy-nominated daytime talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show. The pair covered many topics during their discussion, from Cher’s fashion and beauty influences to her favorite artists. When Hudson asked if the Grammy award-winning songstress had rejected Elvis Presley, she explained her reasoning and how it relates to her current love life.
Why Cher Prefers to Date Younger Men
Cher explained, “It was because I was nervous, and I knew of the people around him. It wasn’t that they were bad people, I was kind of nervous of his reputation.” She continued, “I’m really shy when I’m not working and kind of shy around men. The reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older—well, now they’re all dead. Before, they were always terrified to approach me.” Hudson interjected that younger men are “bold,” and Cher agreed, adding that they were “raised by women like me.”
All About Alexander Edwards, Cher’s Boyfriend
The Goddess of Pop is dating music executive Alexander “A.E.” Edwards. They first met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2022 and were spotted holding hands in LA two months later. Edwards, 38, has a son with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose. In August 2021, Rose took to her Instagram story to call out Edwards for his infidelity. The internet personality wrote, “All 12 of ya’ll bums (the ones that I know of, there’s probably more) can have him…I can’t be the only one fighting for my family anymore.”

On Instagram Live with DJ Big Von, Edwards discussed his thoughts concerning the post: “I thought, ‘S***, I got caught.’ I got caught before, you know what I’m saying? And she’s just had enough, obviously.” He continued, “I love her, though. That’s, like, my best friend, the mother of my son. I love [Sebastian], my stepson too. But…I like women.”
Despite their turbulent past, Rose recently expressed positive feelings about the music executive’s relationship with the pop icon. On The Jason Lee Podcast, she stated, “I’m very happy that [Alexander is] with Cher because it creates stability for when our son goes over there. It’s not all mayhem and stuff.”

In April, it was announced that Cher was selected as one of several artists to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame under the Performer Category. Other inductees include Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest. In 2023, Cher called out the foundation for not nominating her. “I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars,” she declared on the Kelly Clarkson Show in December. “I’m never gonna change my mind.
