Tommy Richman debuts at number 2 on the Hot 100 list. This is the singer’s first chart number and first top 10 hit.

If the Virginia singer-rapper Tommy Richman is a new name for you, it’s time to become acquainted.

The artist signed to Brent Faiyaz’s ISO Supremacy agency, serving as a tour opener, initially caught attention with a guest appearance on Faiyaz’s Larger Than Life track, “Upset.”

While on tour with Faiyaz in 2023, Richman was releasing his catch and funk-filtered R&B songs. With tracks like “Last Nite” and “Selfish,” he gained significant recognition.

In addition, he was also featured on Complex‘s R&B Artists to Watch in 2024 list in January. This followed his appearance on Pigeons & Planes’ Artists to Watch list in 2022.

Moreover, Richman has now achieved a breakthrough success, surpassing even the acclaimed tracks on that album with his single “Million Dollar Baby.”

This track gained traction on TikTok and quickly became a viral streaming sensation. Additionally, there is already a trend to the artist’s sound on the social media platform.

Despite throwing out the term “industry plant,” Richman has been producing music for a while now. Furthermore, the first song on his Spotify page, “Ballin’ Stalin,” was released back in 2016.

He dropped his Paycheck EP in 2022 before becoming the first artist on Brent Faiyaz’s indie ISO Supremacy label. Rather than signing to a major label, he agreed to a licensing deal with PULSE, who distributed “Million Dollar Baby” through Stem.

Upon its release on Friday, April 26, “Million Dollar Baby” had 4.6 million on-demand audio streams in the U.S., as reported by Luminate. This impressive figure was particularly noteworthy for a solo single from an artist with a limited commercial track record.

On Monday, April 29, the song had nearly 4.8 million streams. Over the four days, the track accumulated a total of 16.6 million streams and nearly 2,100 sales, an exceptional performance for a new release from a rising artist.

Furthermore, the song has fans believing it will be the “song of the summer. It’s safe to assume he delivered the first real contender of the year. You can listen to Richman’s music on music streaming platforms.
