Travis Kelce Cast in Ryan Murphy’s New Series, Grotesquerie
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is taking his star power to television in Grotesquerie, an upcoming original series by Ryan Murphy.
Travis Kelce has landed his first major acting role. The NFL star has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX horror series, Grotesquerie. According to Deadline, Kelce has been cast alongside Emmy-award-winning actress Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville. Details surrounding Grotesqueire are limited, but it has been reported that production has begun, and the program is slated for a fall premiere.
In February, the American Horror Story co-creator shared a teaser to his Instagram where Nash-Bett’s character gives a chilling monologue. “I don’t know when it started. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s different now, there’s been a shift,” her character states. As the disorienting music grows, the character becomes more distressed. “Something’s happening around us, and nobody sees but me.”
On May 7, the Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story actress took to Instagram to share a brief behind-the-scenes look at production. “Guys, guess who I’m working with on Grotesquerie?” she asked. Kelce soon came into the frame as the pair shared smiles. He stated he was “jumping into new territory with Niecy.”
The nine-time Pro Bowler began exploring the acting world when he hosted Saturday Night Live in March 2023. Appearing in skits alongside series regulars such as Bowen Yang, Heidi Gardner, Andrew Dismukes, and Chloe Fineman, Kelce acted in a wide array of laughter-inducing scenarios such as awkward bar encounters and being an American Girl doll fanatic.
As Taylor Swift‘s new beau, Kelce has gained global fame and is branching into new ventures. In 2023, he signed with Creative Artists Agency, CAA, for off-field representation. Kelce has many upcoming projects, including potentially hosting Amazon Prime’s reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and producing the forthcoming documentary on artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, King Pleasure. He recently debuted as an executive producer on the indie film My Dead Friend Zoe, which premiered at the SXSW festival in March and won the Audience Award.
