Stray Kids, the beloved K-Pop group, is the first group from South Korea to attend the Met Gala. All eight members appeared in custom Tommy Hilfiger suits.

Previously, a few K-pop artists, like EXO’s Lay in 2019, BLACKPINK’s Rosé in 2021, and Jennie in 2023, have attended the Met individually. However, this was the first time a whole group was invited. Bang Chan, the frontman of Stray Kids, expressed gratitude towards Tommy Hilfiger. “We’re stoked to be here, and if it wasn’t for Tommy, we would not be here,” he stated.

Stray Kids have been gaining well-deserved worldwide recognition for their music. Moreover, the boy band won a People’s Choice Award for The Group/duo of the Year category earlier this year. Now the Stray Kids are walking the carpet, decked out in Tommy Hilfiger, at the Met.

Over the weekend, the group announced, in an Instragm live, that they would attend the Met Gala. Earlier this year, Stray Kids also starred in Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2024 campaign. After their announcement, fans were guessing if the group would appear with Hilfiger.

Stray Kids arrived clad in black coats; however, the real show began when they took off their coats on the carpet to reveal their custom red, white, and blue suits.

The suits were made following this year’s Met Gala dress code based on The Garden of Time and Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. “One of the special things about Stray Kids is each of the eight members has a completely individual style. This enabled us to design a cohesive yet distinctively personalized ensemble for them, reflecting their different personalities,” Hilfiger told Rolling Stones.

In addition, BLACKPINK’s Jennie also walked the carpet this year in a stunning blue Alaïa mini-dress. The stays, Stray Kids fans, were excited to see the group interact with Jennie.

However, many fans were upset at the allegedly disrespectful comments passed by journalists when the group was posing.

Nevertheless, this was a ground-breaking moment for K-pop and its fans.

“I’m nervous since this is our first Met but will power through to be the most presentable for this amazing opportunity,” Han tells Vogue. “We couldn’t have done it without Stays, our fans, for always supporting us.”

When asked if the group will attend the New York Fashion Week later this year, Bang Chan explained that all the members are willing to be in attendance. Hopefully, we will see all eight members bring their a-game at Fashion Week. In the meantime, you can stream their music here.
