Twilight actor Taylor Lautner and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland have been cast in an upcoming romantic comedy, The Token Groomsman.

Lautner and Hyland will star as romantic leads in the film which will launch at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Starring alongside them are Brenton Thwaites (The Giver) and Andie MacDowell (Groundhog Day).

The story follows a career-oriented man named Scott (Lautner) who is experiencing difficulties at work, causing him to hit rock bottom. However, his luck changes when he is invited to be a groomsman in a luxurious destination wedding in Italy. Except, he can’t remember who the groom is. Hoping to connect with the rich and powerful wedding guests for a business opportunity, he sets off to Italy. He ends up forming a romantic connection with the groom’s sister, Mia (Hyland). Ultimately, he must choose between his career or love.

There are no details yet on the characters that Thwaites and MacDowell will portray, but we can assume that they will each have a main role of close friends or family.

The actress posted a screenshot of the announcement from Deadline, captioning it “Surprise! This one’s a fun one,” including two emojis, the flag of Italy, and a red heart.

Lautner commented on the post, writing “Let’s go to Sicily!”

Hyland started her career with small roles in films like Annie (1999) and Blind Date (2007). In 2009, she began her role as Haley Dunphy in ABC’s hit sitcom Modern Family. This earned her multiple Screen Actors Guild awards among many others. The actress starred in all eleven seasons of the series until it ended in 2020. She can also be seen in Geek Charming, Scary Movie 5, and as the host of Love Island USA. However, it was recently announced that Ariana Maddix will take over as host.

Since then he has appeared in multiple series and films like Grown Ups, Cuckoo, and Scream Queens. He also appeared in his close friend and ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s “I Can See You” music video. Additionally, he cohosts the podcast, The Squeeze with his wife.
