Pop Culture Jeopardy! Spin-off Coming to Prime Video
An upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! spin-off series for Prime Video was recently announced. Here’s what you need to know.
If you’re chronically online, this new series may be for you. On May 14, Variety announced that Jeopardy! will take shape as a new pop culture-related trivia game for the streaming service. This marks the first streaming spin-off series based on the original Jeopardy!, which has aired since 1964. Sports Jeopardy! aired on Crackle, an ad-supported, on-demand platform from 2014 to 2016.

Announced during Amazon’s inaugural upfront presentation in New York, the program will carry over the answer-and-question format with a focus on music, film, TV, stage, sports, and more. “Pop Culture Jeopardy is its own cultural moment, marking the first time the iconic franchise will premiere exclusively on a streaming service,” stated Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios.
She continued, “With a team-based approach and pop-culture focus, our global Prime Video customers will exclusively experience this innovative spin on Jeopardy! while testing their knowledge on topics that both define and transcend generations.”
A host has yet to be chosen for the series. Executive producer of Jeopardy! Michael Davies will also act as an EP on Pop Culture Jeopardy!. Information concerning the contestant application process will be made available soon, Variety reports.

During the presentation, the president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television Suzanne Prete said, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate with our partners at Amazon to make Prime Video the home for our new Jeopardy! spinoff series.”
Prete also stated, “With Michael Davies at the helm, Pop Culture Jeopardy! is going to be a nail-biter for game show enthusiasts who can expect to see teams competing at the highest level of Jeopardy! combined with a fresh twist of pop culture Olympics for the mind…it’s going to be a must-watch for long-time viewers and new fans alike.”
Jeopardy! has seen numerous spin-offs throughout its history including Rock & Roll Jeopardy! (1998-2001), Jep!, a children’s version (1998-2000), and Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time. Celebrity Jeopardy! has contestants play for a charity of their choice and has hosted over 200 celebrities on the program.
