Victoria Monét has finally received her first three Grammy awards. The acclaimed songwriter and performer took to Instagram to share them in her home, with an old, framed tweet from 2013 behind them, reading, “Stayin’ in working, while I dream of that Grammy!!!”

In her post, the “On My Mama” singer briefly reflected on her career, writing, “It’s an incredible reminder that when you want something, the only thing between you and that thing is time, and if you’re willing to spend that time in your highest forms of hard work, passion, consistency and gratitude for the journey, your dreams will have no choice but to run to you!”

At the 66 Grammy Awards, Monét was nominated for seven categories, winning three. The Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, were awarded to the songwriter for her debut studio album, Jaguar II. Featuring artists such as Lucky Daye, Earth, Wind & Fire, and her daughter Hazel Monét Gaines, the project is a compelling hybrid of soulful love songs, laid-back party tracks, and empowerment anthems.

Monét looked like a vision in a custom, chocolatey brown Versace corsetted gown and Bulgari jewelry. Hazel wore a similarly toned brown dress. “Hollywood,” featuring Earth, Wind & Fire, and Hazel, was nominated for the Best Traditional R&B Performance Grammy, making Hazel the youngest nominee in history.

During her speech for her Best New Artist Grammy, the “thank u, next” co-writer dedicated her award to “everybody who has a dream.” She continued, “This award was a 15-year pursuit. I like to liken myself to a plant, and you can look at the music industry as soil. My roots have been growing underneath the ground for so long, and I feel like today I’m sprouting, finally above ground.”

More recently, Monét performed both weekends of Coachella. She displayed her strong performing abilities through her smooth choreography and effortless vocals. Even Queen Bey was impressed, sending the “Alright” singer a bouquet of white flowers and a note that read, Congratulations on your beautiful Coachella performance. Sending you love, B.”

We congratulate Monét on her past, present, and future success. Jaguar II is available on all streaming platforms.
