The upcoming Wizards of Waverly Place sequel has just released a new first look of photos of the cast along with a name reveal for the series.

The sequel’s official name has been announced, and the title is Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. The name is fitting, as it will follow the original family of Russo wizards in their current lives.

The official Disney Channel Instagram account revealed the new logo as well, which is reminiscent of the original style, purple colors, and the same font, this time with a more magical and sparkly touch.

The sequel was announced to be happening this January, only four months ago. Being one of Disney’s most successful comedies, acting as a staple for kids growing up in the early 2000s, millions of fans have not been able to stop talking about the news. Fans will see some a return of their all-time favorite characters they grew up watching on screen and watch them live their adult lives as well.

Although the series will center around Justin Russo, portrayed by David Henrie, audiences will still see a return of guest stars. This includes the most memorable Disney Channel character of this generation, Alex Russo, his on-screen sister, emdodied by Selena Gomez.

One photo has the Russo siblings holding their wands in the family lair, where they live above the family’s substation. The other photo is of the Russo family, with Alex sitting at a dinner table with Justin’s family.

The series follows Justin, who is now an adult with his wife and kids. He lost his magic just like his father did in the original series, wanting to lead a normal human life. However, one day after a mysterious incident at WizTech, a powerful young wizard arrives at Justin’s door in need of training, bringing magic back into his life. The young wizard named Billie is new to the cast and will be portrayed by Janice LeAnn Brown (Disney’s Roll With It). More additions include Alkaio Thiele (Call Me Kat), who will portray Roman Russo, Justin’s oldest son, and Mimi Gianopulos (American Princess), who will portray Justin’s wife, Giada.

Gomez’s Only Murders in the Building costars Martin Short and Steve Martin joined her on stage in New York City on May 14 at Disney’s upfront presentation, where the company promoted the upcoming lineup of spring television programming.

The series is sure to be successful with the large amount of fans it had during the time, and now there is an entirely new generation of kids to enjoy it as well.

While there is no official release date yet, we know it will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.

Before the sequel is released, you can rewatch Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney+.
