USA Women’s Gymnastics Core Hydration Classic Competition makes history as all-around Olympic gold medallists attend: Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, and Suni Lee.

On May 18, Hartford, CT is holding the Classic, at 7 p.m. ET. Numerous talented women who have won world championship medals will be attending the competition. The Core Hydration Classic makes history as three Olympic all-around champions are competing: Gabby Douglas (London 2012), Simone Biles (Rio 2016), and Suni Lee (Tokyo 2020). In addition, NBC Sports stated, “Tokyo Olympic floor exercise gold medalists Jade Carey and Tokyo Olympic team silver medalist Jordan Chiles” will be present.

The 2024 Core Hydration Classic showcases gymnasts’ routines in all events: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise. The competition is the last chance for these women to progress to the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Championships. The competition will decide the U.S. National Team members for the Olympic Trials to further advance to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The women competing at the competition will have the opportunity to demonstrate their upgraded routines. Some have faced injuries and mental health setbacks but are returning stronger than ever.

2012 Olympic gold medallist Gabby Douglas will compete for the second time since the 2016 Rio Olympics after taking several years off.

Seven-time Olympic medallist Simone Biles will be in the spotlight once again. During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles experienced the “twisties” during the vault. Twisties are a result of gymnasts’ mind and body rhythms falling out of unison. Biles decided to step back for the safety of her own mental and physical health. Since then, Biles has been a positive advocate for athletes’ mental health, and fans are thrilled to see her returning to the mat.

2020 Olympic gold medallist Suni Lee will return after her college career at Auburn University. Lee stated to the public that she has an incurable kidney disease, causing her time at the University to be cut short. Lee’s return to the sport has proven to both herself and others what she will do to achieve her dreams.

Not only does the Classic make history with individuals present, but the strong women competing embody the true essence of the sport. Girls around the world look up to their idols watching as their favorite gymnasts from past Olympics step back onto the mat, proving that anything is possible.

You can watch the USA Gymnastics Core Hydration Classic on May 18 from 7-9 PM E.T. on CNBC and Peacock. Additionally, the Olympic Games will take place July 24 through August 11.
