Something Pink is coming: A new Legally Blonde prequel series exploring Elle Woods’ journey in high school. Reese Witherspoon is producing the new series, which will air on Prime Video.

What, like it’s hard? The prequel is titled Elle and has been developing since early April. New details have recently emerged regarding the plot of the series. Previously, all fans knew about the project was that it would take place “in the universe of” the Legally Blonde films. However, we now know it will explore Elle Woods’ life as a 1990s high schooler before she attended Harvard Law.

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do,” Witherspoon shared.

Moreover, the star of the iconic films will be producing the prequel. The announcement for the series order came at Amazon’s recent event, Amazon Upfront 2024.

Witherspoon will be producing the series through her production company, Hello Sunshine, which is part of Candle Mediaand Amazon MGM Studios. Witherspoon’s company aims to “Put Women at the Center of Every Story.” Therefore, Elle Woods’ story is in great hands.

Legally Blonde triumphed at the box office for its empowering messaging intertwined with comedic dialogue. It is a charming story of a sorority sister who attends Harvard Law, proving herself to her ex-boyfriend. However, she ends up impressing herself during the process.

The film grossed 140 million dollars worldwide and paved the way for a franchise. Following the original film’s success, a sequel was released in 2003, Legally Blonde 2: Red White and Blonde. Finally, there was even a third spin-off, Legally Blondes, which was a straight-to-video release in 2009. Witherspoon did not appear in the third film; however, she did produce it.

There was even success for the franchise in a different type of theater, Broadway. The Legally Blonde musical debuted in 2007 and was based on the events from the first film. The musical was nominated for many awards in its relatively short run.

Audiences can expect the series to be released next year. We are eager to see future details emerge such as more plot details, and casting updates.
