Lana Del Rey Brings Out Surprise Artist Jelly Roll for a Duet at Hangout Fest
On May 18, Lana Del Rey brought out Jelly Roll at Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival to perform a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”
Jelly Roll is a singer and rapper best known for his hit singles “Need a Favor” and “Son of a Sinner.” At the 2024 Grammys, he was nominated for Best New Artist.
However, Roll was just one of many artists Del Rey invited to the Hangout Main Stage. She also welcomed singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett, who gained exposure via TikTok. The pair performed her single “American Jesus.”
On Instagram, Barrett expressed, “From listening to ur vinyls in my bedroom to singing with u on stage. my heart is so full i love u Lana.”
Other artists that joined the “Young and Beautiful” singer include rapper Tommy Genesis, who performed her feature on “Peppers,” a song from her ninth studio album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, and singer-songwriter Benson Boone, who sang his single “Beautiful Things.”
She invited surprise artists during her headlining Coachella set in April, including Grammy and Academy Award-winner Billie Eilish. Together, they performed a duet of Eilish’s debut single “Ocean Eyes,” followed by Del Rey’s “Video Games.”
In an Instagram post showing Del Rey and Eilish sitting beside one another, she declared the 2024 Coachella weekend the “greatest weekend of my life.”
Like Beyoncé and Post Malone, who turned to the country genre in their latest projects, Del Rey announced she will release a country album titled Lasso this September.
As its website describes, readers who want to sign up for the Hangout Music Festival’s newsletter and “stay in the know on all things Hangout, all year long” can do so here.
