New Challengers Behind-The-Scenes Clips Released

New video diaries released by MGM provide a peak behind the curtain of the recently released film, Challengers, set and press tour.

To promote the new film starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, Challengers has been releasing behind-the-scenes video diaries on their Instagram. The account has posted ten “chapters” over the past few months, providing short glimpses into the production and press tour of Challengers. Following the release of the final chapter on Instagram, MGM Studios uploaded a compilation of all ten video diaries on YouTube.

Directed by Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino, the film follows Tashi, a former tennis star, as she coaches her tennis champion husband Art through a match against Patrick, his ex-friend and Tashi’s ex-lover. MGM Studios describes the video diaries as “An intimate look at the making of ‘CHALLENGERS’…through the lens of Zendaya and Anthony Prince Leslie.” The moments from the film’s production and press tour featured in the diaries give fans a timeline of the film’s development in grainy, energetic snippets.

The first five chapters give fans a glimpse of life on the set of Challengers. These chapters present a backstage peek at professional photoshoots and scenes from the film. From Zendaya’s private tennis lessons to Guadagnino mapping out scenes of tennis matches, these clips showcase moments of the film’s on- and off-set development. The chapters also show the three co-leads joking around in between takes, with Zendaya and O’Connor play-fighting and O’Connor trying on one of Faist’s wigs.

Chapters 6-10 take fans all around the world during the Challengers press tour. The viewer follows the cast on interviews and red-carpet events in Sydney, Paris, Rome, and London. Throughout the fast-paced, stylized clips of cheering fans and camera flashes, the chapters showcase the stars’ perspectives on the film’s on-set experiences. “Listen, it’s not my first rodeo, okay?” Zendaya shares her experience as a co-producer on Challengers. “I’ve been a producer since I was a teenager,” she states.

The final chapter follows the cast to Los Angeles and New York for the premiere of Challengers. Though this is the last of the Challengers video diaries, fans still have much to look forward to with the release of Challengers on Blu-ray and digital coming July 9.
