Alex Aster Promotes New Book Skyshade
New York Times Best Selling Author Alex Aster announced Skyshade, the third book in her Lightlark YA fantasy series. It will be released on November 12.
Her upcoming book Skyshade consists of an enemies-to-lover plot, romance, high stakes, and tension-packed scenes. In addition, the main character, Isla Crown, will be in her villain era. Skyshade is already #1 on Barnes & Noble charts and listed as the #6 book on Amazon.
Good Morning America announced the Skyshade promotion online on May 20, lighting up billboards in New York City. Afterward, Good Morning America Book Club’s Instagram posted Aster’s release video.

The author’s first publications were the middle grade novels Curse of the Night Witch, released in 2021, and Curse of the Forgotten City, in 2022. Soon after, Aster started her new book series, posting videos and slowly gaining a platform on TikTok and Instagram.
Abrams published the writer’s first book in the Lightlark series on August 3, 2022. Before publication, the novel was given a major movie deal. On Aster’s Instagram, she expressed, “Universal preempted Lightlark in a 7-figure deal, with the producers of Twilight!!!! And I’m going to be an executive producer!!!” After Lightlark‘s release, Amazon showed over 7,000 reviews, reaching 4.3 stars. The book has now been published in over 30 different countries.
Fans were thrilled to see the characters back on the page when the second book in the series, Nightbane, was published in November 2023. Barnes & Noble described, “Alex Aster’s intricate world expands after the riveting culmination of the Centennial games, delving more deeply into Isla’s memories of her past, as her future hurtles toward two possible fates.” The book dove deeper into the story, with tensions rising, and fans were left desperately waiting for more.
Earlier this week, the novelist posted the Exclusive Romance Skyshade Edition. The new version includes an extended 8-page bonus chapter and an extra romance scene from the point of view of a love interest. In addition, there will be an alternate cover consisting of eye-catching colors, a foil design, and a new jacket variant designed by Natalie C Sousa and Sasha Vinogradova.
