Taylor Swift Releases New ‘Fortnight’ Remix Featuring Post Malone
Taylor Swift collaborated with BLOND:ISH to create a “Fortnight” remix, featuring Post Malone, now streaming on all platforms.
BLOND:ISH, a Canadian music producer and DJ, has teamed up with Taylor Swift to record and produce an upbeat version of Swift’s number one hit, “Fortnight” from her album, The Tortured Poets Department. On May 21, Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes released the song for fans to stream. “Fortnight (BLOND:ISH Remix)” has hit the top 10 of US iTunes, now standing at #7.
After the release, fans immediately posted on social media emphasizing their excitement for the collaboration. Taylor Nation posted, “Blondie just dropped the #FortnightBLONDISHRemix and it’s sooo ‘now you’re in the club’ coded.” Fans were filled with mixed emotions, and tweeted, “sooo do i cry to this remix or dance? or both?” and “#FortnightBLONDISHRemix gonna have us down bad cryin at the club.”
The original release of “Fortnight” exceeded 200 million streams on Spotify within a day, surpassing the artist’s previous milestone of “Anti-Hero” released in 2022. Spotify’s X account posted that “Fortnight” broke the records as their most-streamed song in a single day.
Many of the singer’s works have an upbeat tempo and deep meaning within the lyrics. One particular track that demonstrates this is “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” from the singer-songwriter’s most recent album. The hit song emphasizes Swift’s ability to perform in front of thousands of her beloved fans after an intense breakup, thus keeping her composure and retaining a smile throughout her performance as she sings at the end, “Try and come for my job.”
Amazon Music revealed Swift’s inspiration behind many of the songs in her new record, including “Fortnight” with Post Malone, “Clara Bow,” “Florida!!!” with Florence + the Machine, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys.”
Swift explained that “’Fortnight’ is a song that exhibits a lot of the common themes that run throughout this album. One of which being fatalism—longing, pining away, lost dreams.” In addition, “It’s about a dramatic, artistic, tragic kind of take on love and loss.”
