Alicia Keys Teases New Collaboration With Jay-Z
While celebrating their hit single, “Empire State of Mind,” reaching one billion streams on Spotify, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z teased a new collaborative project. Keys‘ Broadway musical Hell’s Kitchen won two Tony awards: one for best performance by a leading actress in a musical, and another for best performance by a featured actress in a musical.
On May 13, the pair’s iconic 2009 single, “Empire State of Mind,” surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. The two artists reunited to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment in a short clip posted on Keys’ Instagram on June 16.
In the video, the musical duo not only shows gratitude to their fans for helping them achieve this milestone but also hints at a possible collaboration that may be in the works.

The 15-second, black-and-white clip features the “If I Ain’t Got You” singer walking up to Jay-Z and posing with him as a snippet of “Empire State of Mind” plays in the background. In the caption, Keys teases a future collaboration with the “Run This Town” rapper. She shares, “1 Dream. 1 Song. 1 Billion streams. Thank you! We love you. What’s next…”
This exciting teaser is not the first time the pair have been seen together of late. On June 16, Keys performed at this year’s Tony Awards, where the artist’s critically acclaimed Broadway musical, Hell’s Kitchen, was nominated for a whopping 13 awards.
As a surprise for the audience, the “No One” singer brought out the “Drunk In Love” rapper to perform “Empire State of Mind” alongside her, exclaiming, “I had to do something crazy! It’s my hometown!”
