Valentino Drops New Collection Three Months Early

Valentino

Valentino unexpectedly dropped the fashion house’s Resort 2025 collection three months earlier than anticipated, with new creative director Alessandro Michele.

The release includes 171 ensembles and 93 accessories, which is remarkable considering Michele only became creative director in March. Perfectly dropped at the end of Milan Fashion Week, the impressive collection bodes well for Michele, a fashion world staple.

Valentino announced Michele as their creative director on March 28, following Michele’s departure from Gucci (after twenty years of fantastic work). He accepted the announcement effusively with a few words about the legendary fashion house.

He also shared his excitement about rejoining the exuberant Jacopo Venturini, an associate from his Gucci days and now Valentino’s CEO.

The sincere joy Michele expressed is evident in the collection. Whether casual, regal, or whimsical, each look glows with Michele’s lust for life. The muted pink A-line wrap skirt is paired with a cream-colored sweater, socks to match, and a wealth of pearls. This ensemble is seemingly ideal for an off-duty prima ballerina.

The moss green suit, punctuated with frilly collars and cuffs, recalls Michele’s Gucci designs. With its symmetry and vivid color, this look seems straight out of a Wes Anderson film.

But each look is pure Michele, utilizing his favorite fashion tools: personality, color, and verve. These ideals, their oft-androgynous results, and always fun execution made Michele a legend. The fashion world can take a sigh of relief because his perspective, though a loss to Gucci, has found a home with Valentino. We mean that literally: Michele’s native Rome is the epicenter of Valentino’s creative direction.

Fashion fanatics weighed in, expressing delight with the surprise collection.

Another fan we can count on to celebrate is Harry Styles. His flamboyant style aligns perfectly with his friend Michele’s vision, so much so that they were spotted dressing alike while out on the town.

Valentino is no stranger to positive acclaim for their designs or trailblazing ethics. The fashion house was one of the first luxury brands to obtain their Gender Equality Certification, reflecting their work to reduce the pay gap. We look forward to Valentino’s continued progress in fashion and business.

We’re thrilled to congratulate Valentino and Alessandro Michele on this triumph, presumably the first of many.
