On June 20, your favorite artist’s favorite artist made her thrilling debut on The Tonight Show. Along with gracing the stage with a show-stopping performance of her hit single, “Good Luck Babe!,” the up-and-coming pop star joined Fallon to talk about her style, music, and experience gaining massive amounts of success almost overnight.

Prompted by a picture of herself from years ago performing for an almost empty crowd, the “HOT TO GO!” singer described where she was at the beginning of her career. “I had no money, and I was working at a donut shop, and I was performing at this weird gay festival,” Roan joked. When asked how it feels to rise to fame so suddenly, the singer gave a brilliant response. “It feels like I was right all along,” she stated.

“I feel kind of like I made it already whenever…people showed up to my concert a few years ago…Everything else has been the cherry on top,” the artist shared.

The most striking part of the pop star’s appearance on The Tonight Show was, without a doubt, the stunningly campy outfits she showed off. Pulling inspiration from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, the “Casual” singer appeared in an eye-catching black-feathered dress for her interview and a pristine white-feathered dress for her musical performance.

Of course, the queer pop artist is no stranger to over-the-top outfits. In her interview, Roan described what inspires her unique sense of style. “We pull from drag, we pull from horror movies, we pull from burlesque, we pull from theater,” she explained. “I love looking pretty and scary, or pretty and tacky, or just not pretty. I love that, too.”

As Fallon stated, the “Femininomenon” singer’s debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, climbed to number one on the US iTunes Charts. “I just wanted to make something that I could party to, and other people could party to,” the artist shared on the album. “Something that I would never be sad or bored performing…it’s not fun to go on tour and be sad for months…because everyone is already like that anyway.”
