Amaarae Drops New Single ‘sweeeet’

Fountain Baby lives on. Amaarae shares her latest single “sweeeet” ahead of Roses are red, tears are blue – A Fountain Baby Extended Play release on June 28.

Born Ama Serwah Genfi, the musician grew up in Accra (Ghana’s coastal capital), Atlanta, and New Jersey. The Ghanaian-American pop star is known for her “Afro-fusion” sound of pop, R&B, hip-hop, and alté, among other genres. Her goal is to “elevate African music to the next level.”

The critically acclaimed Fountain Baby, Genfi’s second album, featured 14 tracks and was praised for its immersive sound. It launched the singer into mainstream popularity.

The deluxe will have six new tracks, including a “Reckless and Sweet” amapiano version and a 6LACK feature on “Disguise.” The mid-tempo track “sweeeet” shows Amaarae in love with lyrics like, “Little baby got me wrapped around her index.” Other announced track names are “Day 1” and “THUG (Truly Humble Under God).”

Genfi recently released Fountain Baby (Tour Documentary), showing how her music has a mass appeal worldwide.

If you want to see Amaarae live, she will be one of Sabrina Carpenter’s opening acts for her Short n’ Sweet tour.
