Fed up with how the music industry has treated her over the years, Bebe Rexha expresses her frustrations in a series of heated tweets.

On June 28, the pop songwriter released her latest single, “I’m The Drama.” The single and Rexha’s new edgy era communicates that the “Meant to Be” singer has found a new sense of strength and confidence. Utilizing this confidence, Rexha took to X (formerly Twitter) on July 2 to expose the music industry and how it has sabotaged her throughout her career.

“I could bring down a BIG chunk of this industry,” the “Me, Myself & I” singer tweeted. “I AM frustrated. I Have been UNDERMINED. I’ve been so quiet for the longest time.” The pop star used her fiery indictment of the music industry to call for change — or else. “When I have spoken up I’ve been silence[d] and PUNISHED by this industry,” Rexha claimed. “Things must change or I’m telling ALL of my truths. The good the bad and the ugly.”

Though this burst of anger may seem sudden to some, the “I’m Good” singer has quietly dealt with several instances of mistreatment by the music industry over the past decade. One such example was when David Guetta credited the singer as a co-writer on his 2015 single, “Hey Mama,” but not as a vocalist along with Afrojack and Nicki Minaj.

In response to a fan referencing the incident, the “Chase It” singer tweeted, “My love. That? Compared to all the other stuff you don’t know about? That’s Child’s play.”

Despite her frustrations, the “I Got You” singer has kept things vague. As Rexha expressed, if an artist speaks out against the industry, “THEY PUNISH YOU.” The songwriter later clarified that her harsh words do not come “from a place of anger. It’s sadness.” The pop star admitted to feeling “hopeless for the longest time” and to “sitting in [her] hotel room in London Crying [her] eyes out.”

Countless fans have reached out to support Rexha, which, as she stated, has “given [her] strength.” “Thank you to everyone checking up on me,” the singer shared. “I’m working through these issues and fighting for what I deserve.”
