Childish Gambino Announces New Single ‘Lithonia’ and Album Preview

Childish Gambino gives fans a sense of euphoria by releasing the single “Lithonia,” while also announcing a listening party in New York for his new album.

Donald Glover, who famously goes by the alternative name and persona of rapper Childish Gambino is sending fans into a whirlwind of new music this summer. From repurposing past projects and announcing a film with himself as the lead, Glover is also releasing new music to accompany his latest endeavors.

First, Glover began his era of Childish Gambino earlier this year, releasing a reimagined version of his hit album 3.15.20. With improved production quality and additional songs, Glover was able to elevate the album, which released a day into the COVID-19 pandemic, to new heights.

Now Glover is embracing his alternative rapper persona even more but he alerts fans that this is the last time he will be creating music under his famous stage name. Childish Gambino has cultivated a successful career for himself, with some of his first releases dating all the way back to 2008.

Childish Gambino released his new single “Lithonia” on July 2. Besides the release of the new single, Gambino also announced he was having an album preview for his latest album being held on July 6 in Little Island, New York. Fans have been waiting for new music from the rapper for over four years, as 3.15.20 was his last full-length album.

The new album is unfortunately the last project Donald Glover will release under the persona, but the album is serving another purpose unlike any past projects he has released before. Gambino’s last album will serve as the soundtrack for the film Bando Stone & The New World, starring himself.

Gambino hinted at the new film by having the trailer debut during A Quiet Place: Day One, as well as uploading the official trailer to his Instagram account. Viewers can hear Gambino’s new single “Lithonia” playing in the trailer to chronicle the fast-paced action scenes sparking a sense of adrenaline throughout the trailer.
