Lauren Roberts Releases New Book in Debut Series
On July 2, Lauren Roberts released Reckless, the second novel of her debut series Powerless, to bookstores across the globe and announced exciting news.
The author released Reckless, the second book in her trilogy, and fans are already desperate for more. Reckless follows as “Paedyn and Kai battle with duty and desire in this highly anticipated second installment in the sizzling and epic romantic fantasy trilogy that’s packed with spicy tension and edge-of-your-seat betrayal.”

After the release, the New York Times Best Seller discussed her writing and publishing journey.
On Publishers Weekly, the writer expressed that she would not be where she is without the support of BookTok. Her platform grew, viewers loved her posts, and they convinced her to write a novel. Unsure where to begin, at 18 she wrote and published her first novel Powerless. With thousands of copies sold and hundreds of positive reviews, a large publishing house noticed the author’s work. Simon & Schuster reached out to her wanting to publish Powerless in hopes of hitting the shelves of bookstores.

Shortly after the release of Powerless, the author’s senior editor came up with the idea for a novella. Roberts immediately thought of Adena (a side character) and wrote it within 28 days, focusing on a different type of female character that did not need to wield a weapon to be deemed powerful. Her fans adored the small novella as they dove back into the magical world.
The novelist also appeared on Good Morning America, expressing her love and passion for books. When writing Powerless, she stated that she would stay up until four in the morning in her childhood bedroom immersed in the world. Within three months she had completed the novel and started her journey of self-publishing.
On Instagram Roberts posted, “Reckless is finally out, and once again, I find myself equally terrified and excited for you to read this next installment in the series. This book was the first I wrote after the sudden success of Powerless—it was such an honor to step back into this world with so many people excited to read my next words.” Fans excitingly commented, “This book was a lite MASTERPIECE.” Another remarked, “THAT ENDING THOUGH ?? HOW DARE YOU??”
The author further announced that the third book of her trilogy, Fearless, will be out in April 2025. She added that she is currently working on another novella and has thoughts about a second duology that need to be fleshed out.
