Abbott Elementary Will Return With a New Season This Fall
School is back in session this fall. The hit sitcom Abbott Elementary will return for its fourth season on Wednesday, October 9 at 9:30 p.m.
The series shared a teaser to their Instagram promoting the new season.
The Emmy-winning series was renewed for a new season in February after its third season. William Stanford Davis, who portrays Mr. Johnson, announced the program’s renewal at the ABC Television Critics Association’s Winter 2024 Press Tour.
The comedy left audience members at the edge of their seats when Janine and Gregory kissed, finally acknowledging their feelings in their “will they won’t they” relationship. The slow burn of their romance has been well thought out by producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. Halpern states, “We try to see where they are emotionally and where they are in their lives and if that would line up. But in a way, they went through the same thing the audience went through, which is, ‘Are we going to do it? Is this right?’ And then they have so many big feelings for each other that at some point it just becomes unable to be put aside and they have to do it.”

The other big event of Season 3 was Melissa (Lisa Ann Walters) breaking up with her boyfriend, Gary (Bruno Amato).
The series has continued to sweep through awards season with its recent wins at this year’s Golden Globes and the 75 Primetime Emmy Awards. The mockumentary also won awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Ratings have continued to soar for the program due to its realistic approach to comedy.

The filming schedule is set to start in August but it is unconfirmed how many episodes will premiere this season. Fans can expect a range from 14 to 22 episodes.
Recently, Quinta Brunson stated that the fourth season will be “a return to fun and excellence.”
Fans can expect the series regulars to return with Brunson as Janine, Tyler James Williams as Gregory, Janelle James as Ava, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara, Chris Perfetti as Jacob, Walters as Melissa, and Davis as Mr. Johnson.
Keep an eye out for any guest stars, as Season 3 had celebrities like Philadelphia Eagles players Jalen Hurts, Brandon Graham, and Jason Kelce and comedian/TikTok star Sabrina Brier.
