Kim Kardashian on Paris Robbery Trauma: All You Need to Know
Recently, on The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian opened up about how the 2016 Paris robbery has affected her long-term mental health.
In a 2017 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the SKIMS entrepreneur spoke publicly for the first time about an incident from October 2016, when she was robbed at gunpoint at the No Address Hotel in Paris. “They ask for money. I said I don’t have any money,” she recalled. “They dragged me out onto the hallway on top of the stairs. That’s when I saw the gun…clear as day.”
In a recent episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian reflected more on how she responded to the terrifying situation. “I mean, imagine you’re like, gun to your head, getting tied up, dragged across a hotel room, and the guy, I remember him telling me, ‘Just like, stay calm and you’ll live.’ And I did that,” the business mogul recounted.
The TV personality stated that while staying calm “served [her] well at the time” and that doing so “saved her life,” she was concerned about becoming too aloof. “I think I’ve let it get too calm to where people could take advantage of my calmness or I’m just turning into a full robot with like, no emotion,” she explained.
There’s one thing I will defend Kim Kardashian about is the Paris robbery and how it’s affected her no woman should be subject to that kind of violence ever

In the episode, Kardashian discussed her revelations in therapy with her sister, Khloé Kardashian. “[My therapist] was like, ‘You think calm is your superpower. I think you are so desensitized from trauma that you literally are frozen in fight or flight,'” she told her sister. “So then [my therapist] was like, ‘One time in life something happened, and you remained calm, and that worked for you. So you will always choose calm.'”
Though this realization may be eye-opening for viewers, Khloé did not seem shocked. She stated that the changes that occurred in her sister’s personality after the Paris robbery were clear to her. “You were never calm as a teenager, in your 20s,” the Good American co-founder explained. “You cried about everything…everything stopped after you got robbed, because you stayed calm in that situation and you even said, ‘My calmness is what kept me alive.'”
