For the second time this year, Hollywood will turn its eyes to the Emmy Awards, where The Bear has set a new record for comedies.

This morning, the Television Academy announced the nominations for the 76 Emmy Awards. Because of last year’s actors and writers strikes, this year is home to two Emmy ceremonies. The 75 Emmy Awards were held on January 15. Meanwhile, the 76 Emmys are set to be held on September 15.

Regarding nominations, The Bear seems primed to make another clean sweep of the comedy categories. Though there is some doubt The Bear is a comedy, it has made Emmy history with 23 nominations. This is the most a comedy series has ever received in a year. The previous record belonged to 30 Rock, which received 22 nominations in 2009. Expect Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edibiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach to take the stage a second time.

Also on the comedy side, Abbott Elementary and Only Murders In the Building appear in the major categories once again. Quinta Brunson, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Steve Martin are all up to possibly take home trophies. That is, if they can topple the giant that The Bear has become.

In the drama categories, Shōgun seems ready to make waves with a ceremony-best 25 nominations. Though originally a limited series, Shōgun is returning for two more seasons, allowing it to qualify for the drama categories. It also makes history as the second non-English series to receive a nomination for Best Drama, after Squid Game. In addition, the science fiction series Fallout and 3 Body Problem managed to secure surprise nominations.

Both Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada receive nominations for Shōgun. Elsewhere in their categories, Walter Goggins sneaks in for Fallout, while Donald Glover and Maya Erskine represent Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The drama categories look like close-fought competitions.

Finally, the limited series categories are a battle between the breakout Netflix series Baby Reindeer and the HBO drama True Detective. The animated category features the massive Disney+ series X-Men 97, which faces down Blue-Eye Samurai in a close competition.

You can look forward to seeing who wins all of these categories when the Emmy Awards air on September 15. Until then, check out all of the nominations.
