Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: New Trailer Teases an Unlikely Alliance
The second trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hints at an alliance between the titular character and his long-lost love.
This morning, Warner Brothers released the trailer for the upcoming horror comedy, which hails from acclaimed director Tim Burton. The film features Winona Rhyder (Stranger Things), Catherine O’Hara (Schitts Creek), and Micheal Keaton (The Flash) reprising their roles from the first film. Based on the trailer, Rhyder’s character Lydia Deetz will likely be joining forces with Keaton’s Beetlejuice, who attempted to kidnap and marry her in the first film. In addition, this new trailer hints at a larger journey through the afterlife on Deetz and Beetlejuice’s quest to rescue her daughter.

On top of his returning stars, Burton has brought in many new actors for the sequel. Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) will portray Astrid Deetz, whose kidnapping kicks off the events of the film. In addition, Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Monica Belluci (The Matrix Reloaded), and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things) will all appear in supporting roles. Expect these characters to make waves in both the living world and the afterlife.
Beetlejuice was originally released in 1988 and quickly became a commercial and critical success. A sequel has been in development since then. However, work on the sequel stalled in 2019. Luckily, it was announced once again in 2022, with Burton later joining the project. After that, Ortega was cast in March of 2023, and production wrapped in November of that year after delays due to the strikes.
