Jackman last portrayed Wolverine in the 2017 film Logan, billed as his final Wolverine film. Alongside Jackman, Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Dafne Keen (The Acolyte) starred in the production. Now, we have confirmation Keen, who portrayed Logan’s biological daughter, Laura Kinney, will reprise her role for Deadpool & Wolverine. Interestingly, the actress previously denied appearing in the film. However, it is now apparent that she is the latest Marvel actor to lie about her true involvement.

Keen’s role in Logan received widespread praise. She then went on to star as Lyra Belacqua in MAX’s series, His Dark Materials, and Jecki Lon in Star WarsThe Acolyte. As one of the most beloved castings of Fox’s X-Men film series, fans will surely be happy to see her return.

In addition, the trailer also unveiled the first full look at a female version of Deadpool. There are many questions surrounding this specific version of Deadpool. The common belief is that “Lady Deadpool” is actually Gossip Girl alumni and Ryan Reynold’s wife, Blake Lively. However, many instead think she might well be singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Currently one of the biggest musical artists in the world, Swift’s involvement in the film has been rumored, and denied, for nearly a year.

Directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy), Deadpool & Wolverine has been in the works since 2020. Previously, a third Deadpool film was thought impossible after Fox’s acquisition by Disney. However, it seems the Merc with a Mouth is the one fragment of Fox’s mutant saga that migrates to the MCU. Jackman announced his return in 2022, with the film undergoing production in 2023. Though filming was delayed due to the strikes, the project will still make its release date. In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the film stars Emma Corrin (The Crown) as Cassandra Nova and Matthew McFayden (Succession) as Paradox.

Deadpool & Wolverine releases on July 26 and is set for a massive opening. This film’s success is sure to mark the beginning of a comeback era for Marvel Studios, especially since Marvel is holding their signature Hall H presentation the very next day.
