Tate McRae Talks About Tour, Confidence, and Career in Latest Interview
Tate McRae was recently interviewed by Asher Lara for Billboard and Invisalign, where she discussed the U.S. leg of her tour, her newfound confidence, and her career thus far.
The interview was held at the Bill Graham Theater, which is ironic because the singer later sold out a concert at the same venue. McRae posted a behind-the-scenes TikTok from her July 9 concert singing her song “uh oh.”

Starting the interview strong, Lara asked the “exes” singer about her favorite tour moments. “I just started the US leg like a couple of days ago, and I did my first ever hometown show, which was so fun. I mean, Barcelona and Paris were just like my favorite shows of all time,” the pop star expressed.
The “greedy” singer is originally from Calgary, Alberta, and has always feared playing for her hometown. To celebrate her achievement, the songwriter shared a message on her Instagram showing her gratitude.
She also posted videos from Barcelona and Paris, and it looks like she is having the time of her life. For Barcelona, the songwriter shared her performance of “uh oh,” and, in Paris, she revealed behind-the-scenes photos from her concert.
Moreover, the pop princess has been very candid about her newfound confidence. She explained, ” I think confidence is just being yourself and feeling genuine and authentic and whatever you do, whatever your passion is.” The singer has a partnership with Invisalign, and she expressed, “Since I’ve started using Invisalign aligners, I feel like I feel way more confident in my smile.” Back in May, McRae posted a TikTok explaining how her Invisalign aligners help her during the tour.

It’s no secret that McRae is a performer. The artist even has an alter ego called “Tatiana.” She stated, “While I’m performing, I feel like my favorite thing to do is laugh and smile and have a good time on stage. I think performing has just been such a passion of mine since I was a little kid.”
The “think later” singer discussed how she prepares for her performances. She revealed, “I definitely do a lot of working out and vocal lessons before I go on tour.” It’s also important for her to have self-care. She explained, “I think a lot of it is finding time to be by yourself and do self-care, because obviously when you’re on tour, you’re around so many people. I think when I center myself, when I’m alone, I feel like that’s always when I feel the most excited and ready for tour.”

McRae also told Lara about people who inspire her in the music industry. “I would say Rosalía is a big inspiration of mine and her shows,” she expressed. Additionally, the songwriter reminded fans of how she takes inspiration from Britney Spears. She stated, “I feel like I remember watching all of her awards show performances and her on tour.” Last month, the pop star was interviewed by the legendary artist for V Magazine.
Furthermore, the artist gave young singers a piece of advice. “I would just say, be yourself and don’t doubt yourself. Whenever I’ve listened to other people, it’s always when I’ve gone in the wrong direction. I think you always know deep down, it’s just taking the time to actually listen to yourself because I think you know who you want to be and you know exactly who you are,” the dancer revealed.
Towards the end of the interview, McRae told fans that her album is “personal, dynamic and grown up.” For more about the artist, check out the full interview.
