In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Ice Spice discusses her collaboration with Taylor Swift, her heated rap beef with Latto, and her upcoming album, Y2K!

In January, Ice Spice shook the world of rap with her hit lead single, “Think U The Sh*t (Fart).” The track, with its clever, irreverent lyrics, has sparked endless TikTok trends and kept the princess of rap in the spotlight like never before. With her debut album, Y2K! hitting the shelves on July 26, the “Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2” rapper sits down with Rolling Stone to address the ups and downs of her career thus far.

The rapper expresses that with viral success comes viral controversy. Take her beef with Latto, for instance. After performing at a radio station’s Birthday Bash summer concert, the Atlanta rapper tweeted a photo of a poop-shaped cake as a pointed jab at Ice Spice.

“I feel like if we ever spoke and I asked her, ‘What’s the issue?’ it’d be like a blank stare,” the “Munch (Feelin’ U)” rapper comments on the matter. “I can understand a friendly competition, but I just feel like at this point it’s a joke that she’s just dragged out, and it’s just not even funny…you’re taking something that’s supposed to be a fun moment for you and you’re making it about me…again.”

Sudden popularity also has its perks, such as working with world-famous artists who inspire millions. The “Phat Butt” rapper shares her dream-come-true experience collaborating with Taylor Swift on the hit remix of “Karma.” “I remember my manager called me, and he usually texts, but he called, and he’s like, ‘You ready for this one?’” the rapper recounts. “He’s like, ‘Taylor Swift has a record for you to get on from her album.’ …I hang up the phone and I’m hysterically crying.”

Ahead of the release date of Y2K! Ice Spice tells Rolling Stone about the album’s experimental, “chaotic” sound. “I think…90 percent I’m going to do whatever I want, and then 10 percent I’ll give you something you want,” the Grammy-nominated rapper teases. “But at the same time, I just really like making fun records because that’s what I like to hear most of the time.”

Ice Spice’s Y2K debuts on July 26. Fans can pre-save the album now.
