Georgian-born designer David Koma, currently based in London, is set to debut as Blumarine’s creative director in the pre-fall of 2025.

Koma will succeed former director Walter Chiapponi, who became creative director last November but left the brand in March after finishing just one season.

Before Chiapponi, Nicola Brognano held the position for four years. During this time, he successfully instilled a modernized, youthful aesthetic into the brand, heavily drawing inspiration from Y2K fashion in his later collections. Brognano was a huge hit and a fan favorite.

Koma is best known for his sultry style, so we wonder what that will look like in Blumarine going forward. The Georgian designer released his line after graduating from Central Saint Martin’s College in 2009. It helped garner his audience as some of his pieces were seen on Jennifer Lopez, Florence Pugh, and Kendall Jenner.

Koma shares, “Blumarine embodies a unique blend of sensuality, timeless glamour, and elegance that I always admired, and it is an honor to be able to write the next chapter in the brand’s illustrious history.”

The feminine aspects of the brand deeply resonate with Koma, and he feels that they are very authentic for him. He even helped create looks for the Renaissance tour of feminine icon Beyoncé.

We can’t wait to see what Koma releases. Until then, tune in for updates from Blumarine via their Instagram posts.
