Cate Blanchett Rocks New Spoon-Crafted Top on the Red Carpet
Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett wore a top made of 102 antique spoons at a red carpet event for her upcoming film in Los Angeles.
The actress arrived on the carpet in a top composed of spoons made by the Swedish brand Hodakova at the fan event of her upcoming film Borderlands. Ellen Hodakova Larsson, the owner/designer of the brand created the top by sourcing antique spoons in the Swedish countryside.

According to Hodakova, the brand “is dedicated to building the first fully sustainable fashion house in the world and change the fashion industry’s perspective on the possibilities of circularity.” This is the reason why the designer often uses heirlooms in her work. The fashion industry is known for being a big part of climate change, this is exacerbated by the climbing rate of fast fashion and the usage of lab-made materials such as polyester.
Hodakova continued, “By converting old materials into luxurious goods, Hodakova crafts stories through repurposing and conceptually upcycling everyday found materials into one-of-a-kind pieces.” This connects with the Ocean’s 8 actress as Blanchett is known for re-wearing looks on various carpets, which is pretty uncommon for most celebrities.
Blanchett also showed the importance of sustainability during her time as artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia. The actress installed solar panels on the rooftop of the historic Theatre Company 2010.
Moreover, many younger designers are opting to be more environmentally conscious and using common products like cutlery as Hodakova did. Dilara Fındıkoğlu, who recently collaborated with Marc Jacobs, put Emma Corrin in a dress composed of knives.
