An Exclusive New Look of Wicked Is Here

Wicked fans rejoice. Another exclusive look at the film has been released in another official trailer, including wonders like we have never seen.

In almost two months, Wicked will finally be released in theaters. Until then, fans have been fed from the continuous content posted across the film’s social media accounts. From officially licensed merchandise to character posters, Wicked is sure to be a blockbuster hit once it makes its departure from Oz into theaters on November 22.

Now, as the film has been pumping out trailers prior to its release, a new trailer officially dropped today to rev up fans’ excitement. The new trailer gives a more in-depth look at Elphaba’s character (portrayed by Cynthia Erivo), even teasing some of the music that will be featured in the film.

That’s right. A snippet of “Defying Gravity” can be heard in the trailer as Elphaba realizes her full potential when training her powers. In addition, the theme of the Wicked Witch of the West can be heard at the end of the trailer, a nod to the original “Wizard of Oz” film from 1939.

The trailer also includes several nods to Dorothy Gale and her adventure to the Land of Oz. Wicked is famously known to be set before Dorothy’s arrival, telling the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda. “Discover Everything That Happened Before Dorothy Dropped In” appears during the trailer, cutting to a scene of the famous silver slippers. For fans of the original, the “ruby red slippers” were not always red. In other iterations, such as the novel and Wicked, the slippers were actually silver.

Additionally, the trailer also features Dorothy on her journey with Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion walking down the infamous yellow brick road.

Glinda (depicted by Ariana Grande) can also be heard speaking throughout the trailer. “The Wicked Witch of the West is dead. Let me tell you the whole story. Our paths did cross, at school. She had her secrets…” Filled with suspense, and emotional powerhouse performances, the anticipation is in full force before November 22.
