HBO Greenlights Rachel Sennott’s New Series: Here’s What You Need to Know
HBO has greenlit Rachel Sennott’s untitled comedy. The ensemble comedy series, written, executive produced, and starring Sennott, is a story of a codependent friend group reuniting and the changes they face.
The 28-year-old American comedian, actress, and screenwriter, Rachel Sennott, recently scored a deal with HBO Max to develop her new and unnamed project. Most famously known for her roles in Bottoms and Shiva Baby, the rising star has made waves in Hollywood with her witty demeanor and charming personality.
Since graduating from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, it’s no lie that the actress has been utilizing her creative skills to dominate the film industry. After her breakout role in the 2020 comedy-drama Shiva Baby, the actress went on to co-write and executive produce the film Bottoms. With her most recent hand in the upcoming picture, SNL 1975, audiences can look forward to seeing her act out the role of SNL writer, Rosie Shuster.

In March of last year, the running service originally ordered the television series to pilot. Also, working with the actress, Barry writers Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, and director Lorene Scafaria (Succession), assist in producing the series.
Sennott shares her gratitude with The Hollywood Reporter, commenting, “I’m so grateful to Amy and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it.” “And I’m going to come up with a title soon, I promise,” she remarked.
Alongside Sennott, the series casts Grand Army actress, Odessa A’zion, True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem), Miles Robbins (Blockers), and Jordan Firstman, who is set to act in the upcoming TV series, English Teacher. The pilot casting also included social media influencer and former Viner, Quenlin Blackwell, and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl).
The sitcom centers on a close-knit group of codependent friends who reunite after some time apart. The friends attempt to navigate the changes brought about by their separation, new ambitions, and recent relationships. Following twenty-something-year-olds, this reliant group of girls establishes similarities to Lena Dunham’s critically acclaimed HBO comedy series Girls.
With production still in motion, no release date, and news circulating the internet, fans of the actors eagerly stand by to witness Rachel Sennott work her magic.
