Taylor Swift Wins VMA ‘Video of the Year’ for the Third Time in a Row
Taylor Swift had yet another impressive awards show sweep this year, with her third straight “Video of the Year” win at the VMAs. The MTV Video Music Awards and Taylor Swift have quite the “Love Story” going with her new status as their most-awarded solo artist in history, in addition to her now-annual “Video of the Year” wins.
Like the other VMA awards, “Video of the Year” is fan-voted. For an artist to win, their fans must submit votes before the awards show, and the Swifties did not miss this opportunity. Swift’s reign as the Video of the Year award recipient started with the 2022 awards and her win with her “All Too Well (10-Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)” short film.

The 2022 “Video of the Year” category was also the first in VMAs history to have four female directors nominated. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her fans for their support, citing that she wouldn’t have been able to make the short film without them. The extremely popular “Anti-Hero” took the 2023 “Video of the Year” award.
The singer shows that she still makes the whole place shimmer with this year’s win for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. “Fortnight” was up against Ariana Grande’s “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” Billie Eilish’s “LUNCH,” Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red,” Eminem’s “Houdini,” and SZA’s “Snooze” for the award, but her fans rallied together to pull Swift yet another win. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her boyfriend Travis Kelce for his support throughout her creative process. She further mentioned that he brings happiness, fun, and magic to everything he does.

As per usual Swift fashion, she took her acceptance speech as an opportunity to discuss issues important to her. Starting with mentioning the September 11 terrorist attacks, stating everything at the VMAs falls behind the memory of the attack and the victims. She also took the opportunity to urge her fans to register to vote for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
We’ll have to wait until next year to see if her streak continues, but until then, fans predict the star will continue her awards sweep at the upcoming Grammys.
