Charli xcx Announces a New Version of brat

Charli xcx announced on Instagram that a new version of brat will be released on October 11. While “brat summer” may be over, brat autumn is just beginning.

After great critical acclaim and praise from fans worldwide, brat is officially returning. Rumored to have an array of remixes, including the recently released “Talk Talk” remix featuring Troye Sivan, Charli xcx is not slowing down. From trending TikTok dances to the “brat aesthetic” influencing Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy announcement, the artist has been launched in a whole other dimension. 

Now, you may be wondering how the marketing will differ from the initial album rollout. The new title is brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.

The background is still the infamous lime green that took over a multitude of brands’ marketing campaigns this past summer, such as Wildflower Cases partnering with Charli xcx for a limited-edition brat-inspired case. The text on the album cover is also backward, hinting at an entirely different take on the tracklist with some familiar household names. 

We heard Sivan on the “Talk Talk” remix, but who was the mystery woman speaking on the track? If you guessed Dua Lipa, you are correct. Charli xcx also seemingly confirmed it was Lipa on the track, posting a screenshot of several voice memos from the “Houdini” singer. “I listen to these when missing Europe,” she stated on her Instagram story, while also sending her love. 

Although we have a set release date for October 11, the singer was rather secretive when it came to what actually would be arriving in the new album. Rumors of a possible collab with Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift have swarmed social media, but for now all is uncertain. What we do know is that after hearing the Billie Eilish and Aminé remixes, fans will be in for a treat when October 11 finally arrives. Not to mention October is the perfect month to start the latest era and aesthetic of having a “brat autumn.”

The announcement of the rendition of her successful album comes not even twenty four hours after releasing the “Talk Talk” remix. The remix solidified fans’ thoughts on what to expect from the new spin on the hit album- we will be receiving remixes with artists we never imagined would hop on a track. While Charli xcx and Sivan have collabed on songs like “1999,” it came to fans as a surprise when he was not the only voice heard on the latest remix. The “Houdini” was also heard on the remix, speaking in different languages, such as French and Spanish. 

With a career spanning over a decade, the “360” singer is just starting to ramp up the world of pop and establish herself in dominating the club scene. Besides that, Charli xcx is also slated to begin the Sweat tour soon, teaming up with Sivan to take the stage and perform their hits together on a cross-country roadtrip.
