Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell have endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Following a wave of celebrity endorsements, the singers took to Instagram to post their opinions in a short video. In the clip, Eilish states, “Vote like your life depends on it because it does.” They then urge people to register early.

The pair believe Harris and Walz align more with their beliefs. She mentions, “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet, and our democracy.”

“We can’t let extremists control our lives and our freedoms and our future,” Finneas discussed. He then mentions the Project 2025 agenda, calling it “dangerous.”

This announcement aligns with the “Lunch” singer’s appearance at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, where she publicly endorsed Joe Biden.

The Grammy-winning duo have been known to share their opinions on the issues they care about. The pair joined the 2020 Global Citizen campaign to raise money for COVID-19 relief, and have been vocal about the importance of sustainability and climate activism. Eilish famously, performed at the 2019 American Music Awards in a shirt that said, “NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET,” and voiced support for climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Recently, pop artist Taylor Swift endorsed the Harris-Walz campaign, following Harris and Trump’s debate. Similarly to Swift, the “Birds of a Feather,” singer’s timing was purposeful, posting the video on National Voter Registration Day, a date known for surging voter turnout before registration deadlines.

Celebrities like Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and Charli xcx have also endorsed Harris. Xcx’s tweet which read, “kamala IS brat,” led to a mass of online video edits featuring Harris’ viral coconut tree quote. Celebrity endorsements like these have helped Harris gain momentum amongst younger voters and in online spaces.
