Bratz Teams up With Mean Girls for a Fetch New Collection
The girls with a passion for fashion are back and this time are embodying the life of plastic – literally. Y2K doll brand Bratz is teaming up with the iconic 2004 film Mean Girls for a collaboration sure to have you squealing, “That is so fetch.”
The doll brand is gearing up for a limited-edition collection for the 20-year celebration of Mean Girls. This collection features the four main characters with two outfits and a few accessories to make you feel like it’s a 2005 Christmas all over again.
Each character, Cady, Regina, Gretchen, and Karen, have their North Shore outfits we see in the mall scene when Regina dons the renowned “a little bit dramatic” tank top and Cady in Damien’s pink polo.
The second outfit included is the beloved Halloween costumes, including Regina’s bunny costume, Gretchen’s Catwoman suit, and Karen’s “mouse” outfit—duh. Cady’s doll, on the other hand, was spared the secondhand embarrassment by omitting her “Zombie ex-wife” costume. Instead, her set contains her black and pink party dress; no vomit added.
For Bratz’s creative director, Jasmin Larian, the collaboration is a testament to the iconic franchises, and is excited to maximize their star power.
“It’s a celebration of two iconic brands… We’re both a strong cast of female characters. I think the combination is magic, especially launching right before Halloween, right before the holidays. It’s the perfect nostalgic gift,” she stated.
After fans freaked out over a digitized version of the Bratz girls recreating the film’s “Jingle Bell Rock” scene, Larian, who played with Bratz dolls herself as a child, knew this collaboration was a “no-brainer” and reminds her of how much fun she had watching Mean Girls.
“Growing up, I remember wanting to watch [‘Mean Girls’] a million times over… It was just hilarious. Me and my friends would repeat the lines everywhere we were.”
The Bratz X Mean Girls collection will be released on three separate occasions. The Cady Heron Doll ($60) drops on October 3, a.k.a “Mean Girls Day.” Regina George’s doll ($60) will be released on October 17 and the Gretchen Weiners + Karen Smith box set will be available on Halloween. You can grab yours on the Bratz website.
