Charli xcx Set To Be Surprise Guest In Amazon Prime’s ‘Overcompensating’
Charli xcx has officially been announced as a guest star for Benito Skinner’s Overcompensating. She will also produce the music for the series.
The singer was initially set to work as an executive music producer for the series, but Benito Skinner recently took to Instagram to reveal that she will also be appearing on-screen.
“See you f-kers soon on @primevideo I think you are going to love it as much as we loved making it. Oh and if you thought @charli_xcx was only doing the music…” he wrote on an Instagram post.
The series, first announced in November 2022 on Skinner’s social media, is described by Amazon Prime as a “college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen, a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs. With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”
Produced by Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby Productions and A24, the comedy series was already drawing attention due to Charli’s involvement in producing original music. Her newly revealed acting role has only heightened anticipation.
