The American Music Awards announced the highly-anticipated performer lineup for this year’s award show and it’s nothing short of spectacular. It was revealed that actress, singer, and host Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney Houston at this year’s illustrious event.

The anticipated 50-year-anniversary awards special will be hosted this Sunday, October 6, at 8:00 P.M. PST on CBS.

This isn’t the first time Hudson has paid tribute to the late artist’s incredible legacy, who achieved over 20 AMAs. She celebrated Houston’s music multiple times throughout her career, dating back to 2010 when she performed “I Will Always Love You” at the BET Honors Awards, while Houston watched from the audience. The singer displayed her appreciation for one of her and the public’s music idols at the 54-annual Grammys possibly being her most famous Whitney Houston performance.

She moved the public with an emotional rendition of “I Will Always Love You,” only hours after Houston’s death, which is a moment that will always be remembered by fans and music lovers.

The star, who has also been keeping busy with her third season of The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she has had remarkable guests, like Saweetie and Dave Bautista, has yet to share this news on her social media accounts. Still, fans are already enthusiastically showing their support on platform X, claiming that Hudson was an incredible person chosen to honor such a talented and loved artist.

The American Music Awards will feature homages to its past 50 years of history and its most recognizable talents, promising to honor half a century of pop culture history and its most iconic performances.

This golden event will feature some of the most famous artists performing and will be a moment no one wants to miss, as they will honor the influential artists of the past years, with musicians such as Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan, and Brad Paisley also making an appearance.

Tune into CBS this Sunday to see this historical show. You can find more information about this year’s AMA’s here.
