Now available across all Netflix platforms, Nobody Wants This is a mixture of romcom and dramedy. Featuring two actors who ruled early 2000s television, the return of Kristen Bell and Adam Brody to the small screen is one for the history books. Both actors starred in acclaimed series such as Veronica Mars and The O.C., which set the bar for how present television revolves around drama, romance, and witty comebacks for the perfect series. In addition, both returning actors give a sense of nostalgia for fans utterly in love with Seth Cohen, Brody’s sarcastic, loveable nerd in The O.C.

The new series is shot like a film but split into ten episodes to chronicle the lives of a podcaster and a rabbi. Bell’s character, Joanne, is a popular character that shares the same title as the series. Nobody Wants This is a duo effort with her sister Morgan where they discuss all things dating, sex, and overall struggles of womanhood. A rift starts to develop between the two sisters though when a power struggle ensues over who is the true face of the podcast. What some might peg as just sisterly love can turn into a full-blown argument over a podcast episode.

When the sister duo discuss Joanne’s dating life on the podcast, she starts to realize that she wants a relationship, but with someone who is emotionally available for her. Tired of being shunned in public and embarrassed by men, Joanne is on the hunt for “Mr. Right.” Fast forward to a dinner party hosted by her friend, Joanne meets Brody’s character, Noah. Joanne and Noah hit it right off the bat, agreeing on their love of attention and finding each other cute.

Then, things start to heat up between the pair, leading to them sitting next to each other at dinner. Joanne unfortunately mistakes Noah’s job for another man at the party, assuming he is not a rabbi. When Joanne finally realizes Noah is a rabbi after he answers a question during dinner, her eyes light up in amazement, desperate to learn more about a man she thought she knew all about. An agnostic sex podcaster and a Jewish rabbi, an unlikely duo. The pair finally meet up and go on a date, and then the rest is history.

Eventually, Brody and Bell share an onscreen kiss that raises the bar for romcoms everywhere. In the scene, Noah makes Joanne drop everything—her purse, and her ice cream, to get ready for their first kiss. Noah then grabs Joanne’s fan, embracing her in the most passionate kiss. Fans and Bell alike are giddy over the scene, with Bell declaring the moment as “probably the best on-screen kiss I’ve ever done.”

“My greatest memory is that I wasn’t prepared for Adam to put his hands on my face as he did with so many of the kisses,” the actress stated, adding that she recalled hearing some of the crew members gasp. “And I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna work.'” She added. While we do not want to spoil the rest of the series for you, just know the pair have immense chemistry and witty banter, reminiscent of early 2000s romcoms.
