Shawn Mendes Stands Firmly Behind Ex Camila Cabello in a Series of New Posts on X
Shawn Mendes isn’t holding back when it comes to his ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello. The “Stitches“ singer went on a posting spree on X yesterday, addressing fans to clear up where he and Cabello stand with each other.
Cabello and Mendes ended their relationship in 2021 but briefly rekindled things at Coachella in 2023. Although they seemed to remain on good terms afterward, their relationship returned to the spotlight when singer Sabrina Carpenter released her album Short n’ Sweet, sparking media speculation about a possible love triangle involving the three artists.
However, media frenzy is nothing new for Cabello and Mendes. Throughout their relationship, the couple frequently found themselves in the spotlight, creating viral moments online while also collaborating musically. Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast this past week, Mendes addressed the constant attention, stating that the two did everything they could to protect their relationship.
“Honestly, I think Camila and I have just done the best job at preserving our private little fire of love for each other,” he explained to Shetty. “Because no matter how strong mentally you are when there are millions of people commenting on it, it’s so hard not to be affected by it, to be swayed by it and to be inspired by it,” he continued.
The singer didn’t stop at the podcast when discussing his “Señorita” co-singer. He took to X to engage with fans, responding to a post that said he and Cabello “don’t play about each other” with a simple but firm reply: “No, we don’t.”

Aware that his tweet might stir up some buzz, he quickly clarified his intentions. He explained that he was simply feeling “human” that day and couldn’t ignore the constant chatter. The “noise” he referred to was the ongoing speculation surrounding his and Cabello’s relationship status.
here we go i can do that
i guess to be honest it came from a place of being a little annoyed with all the projection over the last few months about us. I’m usually pretty good at just watching all the “noise” go by but lately it’s been kinda bugging me feeling human i… https://t.co/Kl7vcey8gl— Shawn Mendes (@ShawnMendes) October 2, 2024
