Pop star Gracie Abrams made a difficult decision this week to cancel her third performance at Radio City Music Hall due to a vocal injury.

Abrams, who has captured hearts with her introspective lyrics, shared the news on social media. She expressed deep regret for the cancellation but prioritized her health. In her statement, the singer asserted, “I would do anything to be there tonight—please know that.”

Despite the injury, this year has been monumental for the “Risk” singer, whose career has been awe-inspiring. From releasing her debut album Good Riddance to headlining sold-out shows for her “Secret of Us Tour,” she’s become one of the most talked about names in the music industry.

Fans were particularly excited for her third night at Radio City Music Hall, a milestone for any artist. Especially one new to the mainstream stage like Abrams. She shared photos from the past two nights at this historic venue.

However, her vocal damage highlights the toll that such a demanding job may take. The “Close To You” singer has been upfront about the precautions to avoid such injuries, stating, “Sometimes I won’t speak…when you’re touring, vocal rest days are really important, otherwise you’ll strain, get exhausted, and blow it.”

The cancellation hasn’t diminished the excitement surrounding the pop singer’s music. In the span of a year, she joined Taylor Swift as an opening act on the “Eras Tour,” introducing her songwriting to stadium-sized crowds. She also featured the “Cruel Summer” singer on her newest album in the track “us. (feat. Taylor Swift),” a big achievement given Swift’s large fanbase.

While her vocal injury is undoubtedly a setback, it also reminds us that in the fast-paced world of entertainment, artists’ health must come first. The singer’s fans, a devoted community that’s grown alongside her music, continue to show endless support for her newest project, The Secret of Us.

As we hope for her speedy recovery, there’s no doubt that this is just a brief pause in what will be a long and successful career. The music icon has already proven her resilience, and if this past year is any indication, she’ll be back stronger than ever.
