Bad Bunny Shares New Endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris
Puerto Rican global superstar Bad Bunny has announced his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, following recent remarks about Puerto Rico made at a Donald Trump rally in New York, which many found insensitive.
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe opened Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden with vulgar remarks about Puerto Rico, referring to it as “garbage,” a comment that quickly sparked outrage within the Puerto Rican community.
“There’s a lot going on, like, I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now,” the comedian stated. “I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
The remark ignited a social media firestorm, with backlash against the event for promoting racist and divisive rhetoric. Many Puerto Rican celebrities voiced their disapproval, including Bad Bunny, who has consistently celebrated his Puerto Rican heritage. Shortly after the media uproar surrounding Trump’s rally, Bad Bunny shared a video of Vice President Kamala Harris discussing her plans to support the Puerto Rican community.

The Vice President expressed her gratitude for the singer’s support, as he shared her message with his 45 million followers. This endorsement is particularly impactful, given the crucial role of the Latino vote in the upcoming election.
“I announced my plan for Puerto Rico, and I’m proud to have the support of folks like Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez. People are exhausted with Trump and that nonsense we saw last night at Madison Square Garden,” the Vice President stated.
Another Puerto Rican star, Ricky Martin, also supported Harris following the rally comments. Sharing his frustration in an Instagram story, he posted, “This is what they think about us. Vote for Kamala Harris.”
Social media users were pleased to see celebrities speaking out in response to the remarks made at the rally.
I don't think people realize just how badly that racist "joke" about Puerto Rico is landing with Puerto Ricans. We're a proud people and it's causing every major Puerto Rican with a platform to endorse Kamala.
