CELEBRITY

New Chicken Shop Date is an Andrew Garfield Flirt Session

Chicken Shop Date

Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date, which started in 2014, has grown from interviewing up-and-coming internet personalities to interviewing A-list celebrities.

Although the series’s status has evolved as a whole, Dimoldenberg’s awkward, witty personality remains unchanged. The presenter creates this safe yet uneasy environment. Her main goal is to embody the essence of a first date. In an interview, she states, “We made a magazine, and I really wanted to get to know the artists everyone was listening to and thought a great way to do that would be to date them.” But part of the awkwardness comes from the fact she’d “also never been on a date before,” providing her with experience on dates and viewers with entertainment.

Nonetheless, out of the 97 episodes created, there are specific episodes that excite fans more than others. Why? Well, Dimoldenberg might be an expert at making the scene uncomfortable for the guests, but some just match her energy perfectly, and maybe even better. Guests like Billie Eilish and Jennifer Lawrence’s episodes reached over five million views because of their nonchalantness throughout the interview. But, one guest in particular took this energy to another level.

Recently, actor Andrew Garfield made his highly anticipated appearance on the series. In 2023, at the Golden Globe Awards, the duo met and had an immediate tension viewers could sense. Not holding back, the star greets her and tells her “I only ever wanna see you.” The pair was giggling through the whole interview, and fans were on board to have them reunite for a Chicken Shop Date episode.

Finally, a year later, with the release of the star’s new movie, We Live in Time, we got the episode. On October 18, the episode was posted and reached over six million views. On social media, viewers are labeling it as the shortest rom-com, given that the sneak peek before the release consisted of them awkwardly staring at each other and a short “hey.”

Throughout the whole interview, the movie isn’t even mentioned once. All the pair talked about were hypothetical scenarios if they were to go on a real date. At one point, the actor lets Amelia know that what he was doing throughout the interview was called “flirting, Amelia. This is called flirting.” Though nothing has been confirmed, this duo has great potential to become something more.
