New ‘Severance’ Trailer Reveals Major Plot Twist For Second Season
Will Mark be able to reveal the truth? Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Severance‘s highly anticipated second season release.
For the cast and production team, a second season of Severance may feel surreal. Released amid pandemic recovery in February 2022, the series initially faced hesitations. Executive producer Ben Stiller shared in an interview, “Everyone said, if it works, it needs to work for multiple seasons.”
Despite the creators’ initial uncertainties, cast members like Adam Scott, who portrays Mark, were captivated from the start. Scott stated, “One of the reasons I loved it is that it reminded me of nothing else. It was exactly what I seek out as an audience member. If I’d had this opportunity 5, 10, 15 years ago, I don’t think I would’ve been able to do it.”
Today, the series has garnered a massive fanbase and boasts a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, resonating with audiences drawn to its portrayal of a “sci-fi” corporate world. Many viewers see reflections of corporate America and its dehumanizing effects. Creator Dan Erickson explained, “When I was first writing the pilot for Severance, I was working at a company that makes doors. It was a very mindless job.” This authenticity, paired with a gripping storyline, has propelled Severance to success, earning it 14 Emmy nominations.
Returning and new viewers alike are eager to see what’s next. Although the cast has remained quiet about the season’s specifics, screenwriter Erickson hinted, “There’s definitely going to be some expansion of the world.”
For now, fans must wait until January 17 to re-enter the mysterious world of Severance. Until then, catch the Season 2 teaser trailer below.
