Bruno Mars made a powerful comeback this year with two singles debuting in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, cementing his influence in the music industry.

His collaborations this year have struck a chord with fans and critics, showing his versatility and ability to remain relevant across musical landscapes.

His first hit, “Die With a Smile” featuring Lady Gaga, debuted earlier this year. This pop-driven track captivated listeners with its catchy lyrics, resonating across social media and streaming platforms. The song is a soulful and heartful duet that merges the smooth and classic style of the “24K Magic” singer with the “Bad Romance” artist’s magical vocals. As a breakout single for the two artists, Mars commented on working with Gaga, “She’s an icon and she makes this song magical. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it.”

The single also marked a strong debut on international charts, particularly gaining traction in Southeast Asia, where it “debut[ed] on the Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 chart at the number 6 spot.”

In October, the “Locked Out of Heaven” artist released “Apt.” a duet with BLACKPINK’s Rosé. Through this partnership, the male singer reached new K-pop fandom audiences. He and Rosé hinted at a possible collaboration on social media. The artist casually stated, “But other than that, super chill night” after a lengthy paragraph that included a picture of the night he and Rosé spent together.

The “Apt.” music video hit the Internet just a few days later. With its immediate chart impact and exceptional streaming performance, the single shows how the artist continues to bring his signature style into new musical fields.

“Die With a Smile” and “Apt.” are among the top two of the Billboard Global 200, indicating their considerable chart popularity. According to Billboard, the male artist is “the first act to replace himself at number 1 and take the top two spots simultaneously on each list.”

The success of these releases marks a significant year for the Billboard-topping artist, including his versatility in both pop and cross-cultural collaborations. With an ever-expanding fanbase and continuous chart success, Mars’ 2024 releases underline his skill at uniting listeners worldwide through his music.
