‘For the First Time in My Life, I Voted for a Democrat,’ Alyssa Farah Griffin Reveals on The View
Alyssa Farah Griffin, former Special Assistant to former President Donald J. Trump, has revealed that she voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.
The View is a female-led talk program that features discussions on pop culture and politics. From Barbara Walters to Whoopi Goldberg, the series has run since 1997 and actively spoken about current events. During its Election Day episode on Tuesday, viewers were surprised to hear that co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin publicly announced her vote for Kamala Harris.
“Four years ago today, I was in the White House with Donald Trump on election night,” detailed Farah Griffin. “I believed he deserved to lose that night, at that point. I thought he hadn’t fought to win the election, but I thought the next four years would be the Republican party rebuilding and becoming something I could believe in and turning the page on Donald Trump, and it didn’t do that. So, this weekend, on Saturday, for the first time in my life, I voted for a Democrat.”
Co-hosts and The View audience cheer after hearing Farah Griffin’s statement live on air. She adds, “I voted for Kamala Harris,” but exclaims it was “on loan to her.” She explained her fear of Donald Trump becoming president.
“I’m a Christian, I’m an American, and I’m a Republican in that order, and I need somebody who shares my values. I need somebody who is a kind and decent person who will bring this country together. I don’t agree with a lot of her policies; we can criticize those down the road, but today it’s about a brighter future and I think the best thing for the country and the future of the Republican party is that Donald Trump lose and Kamala Harris is elected.”
After working as Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Media Affairs and the Press Secretary for the Department of Defense, Farah Griffin has actively spoken regarding her opinion on Donald Trump. She has previously told CNN that she would not support Trump again in elections and even added, “We can stand by the policies, but at this point, we cannot stand by the man.”
