Will.i.am Chants ‘Yes She Can’ in New Song
As Election Day is upon us, Will.i.am announced his endorsement for presidential candidate Kamala Harris with a new song.
Rapper and singer-songwriter Will.I.am released a new song titled, “Yes She Can,” essentially his endorsement of Harris.
Throughout the track, the rapper shared why we are voting for our first female president. Through rhythm and beats, he reminds us that
“We used to be united in America,
Now we divided in America,
We all immigrants, different characters,
But together, you know, we could break down the barriers,
So register and vote for your life.”
In August, President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, and VP Harris has stepped in to save women, POC, and democracy. She wholeheartedly stepped in to save America. Harris, the daughter of immigrants, became the first female Vice President in 2020. Now, she takes the throne as the first woman of color to run for president.
Following the announcement as the new democratic candidate, Charli xcx’s Brat album coincided with her campaign. Her team tapped into Gen Z’s demographic by creating iconic viral moments, including “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” More recently, she appeared on SNL for the episode’s cold open alongside actress Maya Rudolph, which became the talk of the night.

While having an exceptional team on the campaign trail, she also possesses grace in every situation. Following former president Donald Trump’s New York rally speaker Tony Hinchcliffe’s ignorant comments Harris assured, “I think last night, Donald Trump’s event in Madison Square Garden really highlighted a point that I’ve been making throughout this campaign: he is focused and actually fixated on his grievances, on himself, and on dividing our country. And it is not in any way something that will strengthen the American family, the American worker.”
His rally that afternoon was the start of his downfall as celebrities including Nicky Jam and Sexxy Red retracted their endorsements.
Conversely, Harris continues to gain support from public figures, creating hope for a future sense of true unity.
Remember, your vote counts. No matter how deeply you might believe it doesn’t, it does. Various states allow same-day registration, so there is always time to ask for help and vote.
