Outer Banks Ends in a Season 5 Finale: Anticipate a Monumental and Thrilling Fifth Chapter
The beloved Netflix series Outer Banks has been renewed by the streaming service for its fifth and final season. This announcement comes ahead of the debut of part two of Season four of the YA series on November 7.
Executive Producers of the series Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke shared the final season announcement in a “Dispatch to all Pogues.”
The message reads, “Seven years ago, in the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time. From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five-season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away. The fourth season was our longest and hardest – but most rewarding – to produce. The season ends with a feature-length episode, which we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way. Now, with a little sadness but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago. Season five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle to the surf break.”
Outer Banks is set in a North Carolina coastal town, where the community is divided by class, with the wealthy or seasonal residents (Kooks) and the working class (Pogues). The series centers around the Pogues looking for treasure.
Debuting back in April of 2020 during the pandemic, the young cast of the YA series have turned into teen idols since the release of the series. The series stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez, Mia Challism and Cullen Moss.
Part one of season four has spent weeks in the Netflix English language TV Top 10 chart and has skyrocketed in popularity worldwide. Netflix recently hosted its second “Poguelandia” event in Los Angeles with 2,500 fans in attendance, as well as a cast “Pogue Tour” across the U.S., Brazil, and Canada.
