A24 Is All About Secrets This Year As Hiro Murai To Make Debut Film Is Revealed
A24 has been busy working with new and upcoming actors and directors this year, including The Bear executive producer Hiro Murai. Their forthcoming films promise a new beginning for Cinema.
Since the beginning of 2024, the production company has raised the bar with its unique yet realistic movies. A24 started the year off strong with Problemista, directed by Julio Torres. The film was released in March and starred the director himself. Problemists reached 86% on the Rotten Tomato scale, with critics stating, “The best parts of Problemista, which is a charming film without ever becoming more than semi-successful, bend the world through his perspective with the help of some Michel Gondry-–esque DIY Surrealism.”

Concluding this year, We Live in Time and Heretic, both in two completely different genres, hit the big screen and have done pretty well. We Live in Time gained praise for its ability to make even those with hearts of stone cry, reaching $24 million at the box office. Meanwhile, Heretic competes with Venom: The Last Dance, which debuted at $11 million at the box office. Overall, all A24 films are known to be successful.
Continuing in this role, the company remains open about upcoming productions to keep audiences on the edge.

Recently, it was announced that Murai would make his feature debut with the upcoming A24 film Bushido. Murai’s creativity has been chiefly displayed through music videos for Childish Gambino and FKA Twigs. Not only that, but also in projects like the FX series Atlanta. He “infuses everything with his unique brand of surrealism, earning him a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand filmmakers.”
Already having a peek at his creative mind, we can somewhat imagine Bushido. Details on the project have yet to be released, but we do know that “Bushido is said to be a high-stakes action film set against the backdrop of feudal Japan.” Like always, A24 continues to create films that introduce us to new areas of this world of which we might be unaware.
Murai’s previous work, The Bear and Atlanta, are now streaming on Hulu, and his other recent work Mr. & Mrs. Smith is currently on Amazon Prime.
